View from the House Balcony

Here are a couple of pictures from the house balcony. As you can see, the ocean is in clear sight.
I'm sure Jaek will love playing fetch along the path between the houses.

Miri Beach Pictures

I went to the beach this weekend (which is located just minutes away from my old home of The Marriott). This is definitely one of the advantages of being in Miri vs. KL - You wont find things like this in KL. The 3rd picture is of the food court where several different vendors offer differnt styles of food - drinking coconut milk straight from the coconut is very popular. The last picture is of the park that was filled with families with children. Click each picture to see the larger image.

Our house in Miri

Click the following link to see a map of where we live. Can you find our house? Scroll over the boxes to see descriptions. HINT: We live very close to the ocean!

Once you find our place, zoom out on the map to see where we live in Malaysia and where we are relative to rest of South East Asia.

Moving on Saturday, March 8th

I move into the house tomorrow, Saturday, March 8th. Owner is leaving a coach, dining room table, queen size bed, and two tvs in the house until our furniture arrives. Furniture is scheduled to arrive March 25th and will take 3-5 days to clear customs and get delivered to the house. I just need to buy some pillows, linens, towels, and misc things for the house. I'm pretty excited to be moving out of the Marriott.

Miri Office

This is the FMC office in Miri. My office is the one right below the FMC logo. There are normally 3-4 people in the office and rotating service personnel use it when they're in town. Before I got there, the office didn't have a refrigerator or microwave - those issues are both resolved. This is quite a change from the Customer Support building in Houston. Back in Miri, Malaysia

I'm back in Miri now after 30+ hours of flying. I flew a Singapore Airlines flight direct from LA to Singapore which is considered to be an "executive economy" class flight. 40% of the seats are removed to add more fuel for the 18+ hours of flying. This also makes economy class seats much nicer.

I'm staying at the Marriott Hotel until the house is ready and my furniture arrives. Kim, Jaek, and Chloe (Kim's Yorkie) will all come over after the wedding. I cant wait for them to get here.

The hotel has a very nice outdoor pool and I swam laps this morning. It's great to know that I can swim outside year round here. I start work in the Miri office tomorrow.

Piasau Boat Club

This is picture of the back of the Piasau Boat Club (http://www.piasauboatclub.com/) that Kim and I will join in Miri. It was created by Shell and Petronas (state-owned oil company) for their employees.

Trip to Malaysia

I have accepted an expat assignment in Miri, Malayisa and will be moving there in early February 2008. I will return to Houston in May to get married to my beautiful fiance Kim. Over the Thanksgiving break, Kim and I traveled to Malaysia to look around and hopefully find a house (which we did). The following posts capture some of the highlights of the trip.
